How much does tree removal cost in Buffalo & WNY?
It depends on the tree. A small tree in an open yard is quick and cheap. A big one leaning over the roof takes more people, more gear, and more care, so it costs more. Around here most removals run somewhere between a few hundred dollars and a couple thousand. Every job gets a free look and an exact written price before we start.
Do I need a permit to remove a tree in my town?
In most towns around Buffalo and Rochester, you do not need a permit to take down a tree on your own property. A few towns have rules for trees near the road or on older, protected lots. We know the local rules across our area, and if yours needs a permit, we will tell you before we start.
When is the best time of year to trim trees in WNY?
Late winter is best for most pruning here. The tree is asleep, we can see its shape, and it heals fast in spring. The one exception is dead, broken, or dangerous limbs. Those can come off any time of year.
Are you insured, and can I see proof?
Yes. We carry liability and workers’ comp, and we are glad to hand you the certificate before we climb. Never let an uninsured crew work in your yard. If someone gets hurt, that bill can land on your homeowner’s policy. Always ask to see proof.
Do you offer 24/7 emergency storm service?
Yes. Storms do not keep business hours and neither do we. When wind, ice, or lake effect snow brings a tree or a limb down, call us any time, day, night, weekend, or holiday. We send a crew based on how dangerous it is.
Will homeowners insurance cover storm damage removal?
Often, yes. When a tree falls on a covered building, most homeowner policies pay for the removal. We take photos of the damage, write up itemized invoices in the format adjusters want, and help make your claim easy.
How deep do you grind stumps, can I replant after?
We usually grind 6 to 12 inches below the ground, plenty for grass or a garden bed. Planning to replant a tree or build there? Tell us and we grind deeper and clear more of the old roots so the spot is truly ready.
Can my ash tree be saved from emerald ash borer?
Often, yes. A healthy ash can be protected with a trunk shot, and a lightly hit tree can usually still be saved. The trick is acting before the top of the tree starts thinning out. We will give you an honest read on whether yours is worth treating.
How far in advance should I book tree work?
For regular work like trimming or a removal, a week or two of lead time is normal. Spring and fall fill up the fastest. Emergencies skip the line completely, and we always keep room open for storm calls.
Do you clean up and haul away all the debris?
Always. A full cleanup is part of every job. We chip the branches, haul the wood away, and rake and blow the area before we go. Want the wood chips for mulch or the logs cut for firewood? They are yours, no charge. Just ask.
What areas do you serve?
We cover the whole stretch from Buffalo to Rochester. Buffalo and all of Erie County, Niagara County including Niagara Falls and Lockport, the Northtowns, and the greater Rochester area including Monroe County and the towns around it. Not sure if we reach you? Just call and ask.
How do I get an estimate, is it really free?
Call, text, or fill out the form on our Get a Quote page. We come out, look at the trees, and give you a clear written price. It is completely free, no obligation, and the price we quote is the price you pay.
