How deep do you grind the stump?
We usually grind 6 to 12 inches below the ground, which is plenty for grass or a garden bed. Planning to put a new tree or a concrete slab there? Tell us and we will grind deeper to suit it.
Can your machine reach my backyard?
Yes. Our grinders fit through a standard backyard gate and work in tight spots near fences, patios, and foundations. If your access is really narrow, mention it when you call and we will bring the machine that fits.
How much does stump grinding cost?
It mostly comes down to how wide the stump is, how hard the wood is, and how many you have. Doing several in one visit drops the price per stump a good bit. Estimates are free, and we quote before we start.
What about underground utilities and sprinklers?
Yes. When lines might be nearby, we get them marked before we grind. Sprinkler lines and yard lighting that you know about, please point out to us. Anything buried and marked, we locate and work around.
How long does stump grinding take?
Most backyard stumps are gone in under an hour, plenty of them in 15 to 30 minutes. Even a job with several stumps is usually done the same day, cleanup and all.
Can I plant grass or a new tree afterward?
You bet. Once the stump is ground down and the hole is filled, the spot is ready for grass seed or sod right away. If you want a new tree in the same spot, we grind deeper and clear more of the old roots so the new one has room.
